For three weeks each summer beginning in mid-July, Parry Sound comes to life with the music and special events of the Festival of the Sound established in 1979. Membership Information Membership at Parry Sound Public Library is available free of charge to the residents of Parry Sound, Carling and The Archipelago. Residents of McDougall also enjoy free membership as your municipality covers the cost. Parry Sound Public Library resources can be used in the library free of charge. It is not necessary to obtain a membership but non-resident members may purchase a membership.
The modern facility retraces the history of the Parry Sound Area with displays on logging, shipping and life as it was in a small Northern Town. The Museum also features many traveling exhibits of lumbering, homesteading and ghostly shipwrecks as well as children’s programs over the summer. The West Parry Sound District Museum offers picnic gardens, a lookout tower, a panoramic view of Georgian Bay and a wonderful location for taking photographs. -Chamber of Commerce Member
The Park-To-Park Trail is a regional initiative to create an east-west link through Parry Sound/Muskoka Districts and Haliburton County. Connecting Killbear Provincial Park to Algonquin Provincial Park, this 230 kilometer length of trail is a destination for all trail enthusiasts. -Chamber of Commerce Member
Constructed in 1893, the original bell called the volunteer firefighters for 73 years and sounded the nine o’clock curfew until WW II. The historical landmark has been refurbished and is open to the public during the summer months. The Old Fire Hall also houses the Chamber of Commerce owned 1938 GMC fire truck. It is located at Market Square, downtown Parry Sound.

Located on Highway 141, just opposite Clear Lake Road, the Museum features artifacts from the late 1800s, primarily found in the Humphrey Township. It is open in the summer months.
Located on Wasauksing Ojibway First Nation’s Territory (Parry Island), once a thriving town and the deepest fresh water port in Canada. Today it is a ghost town, building foundations and sidewalks are all that remain.
